Gorgeous, panoramic views across to the aquamarine waters of the Ionian Sea and neighbouring Zakynthos are an exceptional highlight of any visit to Rabia. This attractive and welcoming family home sits in the sleepy village of Mousata just 1.4km from the sandy beach of Trapezaki with a celebrated local bakery, a minimarket and two tavernas handily located nearby.
Topsy-turvy by design and enhanced by those spectacular views, this is a very easy property in which to relax. On the first floor the principal living accommodation consists of an open plan living/dining/kitchen area together with one of the property’s two large shower rooms.
Each space is clearly defined by a thoughtful combination of smart furniture, tasteful décor with stylish design touches, a vaulted wooden ceiling, eye-catching ceramics and a bronze figure centrepiece displayed on a glass plinth.
Along one side, floor-to-ceiling windows/sliding doors fill the room with light and lead onto a magnificent wrap-around balcony, just one of several enticing locations competing for your mealtime attention.
Three comfortable, air conditioned bedrooms are found on the ground floor each with external access to either the pool terrace or garden area. The double bedroom has an en suite shower room while two further shower rooms complement the twin bedrooms to create an ideal balance of facilities.
Focal point of the pretty garden is the south-facing private pool fringed by various open and shaded terraces perfect for reclining or dining (or both!). A substantial brick barbecue with adjacent shaded dining area invites the preparation of many a tasty meal, perhaps accompanied by a glass of chilled 'Robola' - the crisp and tasty white wine unique to Kefalonia?
Such a relaxing ambience and impressive views will surely tempt you not to stray far, however, only 600m downhill a friendly taverna offers a choice of fresh fish and other local specialities while the laid-back village of Trapezaki (just 500m further) is home to minimarkets and a scattering of appealing restaurants, including the locally loved ‘Denis’.
The beaches at nearby Agios Thomas (2km) and Lourdas (3km) are considered to be amongst the best on the island and Lourdas also offers several well regarded tavernas along its extensive seafront. Sweeping and impressive, Mounda Beach (about a 20 minute drive) is renowned both for the quality of its fine golden sand and reputation as a sanctuary for the endangered Loggerhead turtle.
