The house is located in the center of town, in an elevated position, 89 steps up from the market or some steps down from the parking area in Pefkakia Square. The neighbourhood is pleasant and quiet, the small street in front of the house is for pedestrians and the occasional motor bike only, and of course for you to sit outside on the steps on a mellow summer evening. The house has thick stone walls, it is cool in summer and warm in winter. It has a special character and you feel immediately at home and comfortable. The living space amounts to 175m2.
lt is located very near Metamorphosis, the oldest church of Hermoupolis, which is one of the most rare and beautiful churches in Greece.
The house itself has a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor with terrace and spectacular views. The ground floor has a marble tiled entrance hall, there is a big kitchen with fireplace, dining place, amenities like a washing up machine, a fridge, a cooking stove and an oven, with all facilities for cooking. The living room is spacious, so is the bathroom which has a spacious shower and a washing machine . There is as well a small storeroom. Going up the old wooden stairs you come to the first floor. The first bedroom has a double bed, the second has two single beds, they both look out on a small garden with tangerine trees. Then there is a salon, where you can use a desk for writing or watch what is going on outside from the balcony.
The second floor has a bedroom with a single bed, it is surrounded by a big terrace with sea -and city view, it can be used for sunbathing, for having breakfast, for lounging and reading, for dining, having a sundowner or stargazing at night. On warm windstill nights you can even sleep there.
Because it is so central, everything is more or less within 5 minutes away. In the morning you can dash down for your croissants or your favourite bread or have a breakfast on the majestic town square or on the waterfront. There are two very good swimming places in town with crystal clear waters, one is a pebble beach (ta kimata) and the other one is called Asteria, at the bottom of the aristocratic neighbourhood of Hermoupolis (ta vaporia). It is so near, you can go for your morning swim and come back for breakfast. For sandy beaches you take the bus which will take you in 10 to 15 minutes to beautiful beaches where you can spend the day, having lunch in a nearby taverna.
There are also very good museums, an archaeological museum and an industrial museum which presents you with the history of Hermoupolis, having been a flourishing and rich industrial town in the 19th century.
There are plenty more things to see and to explore, upon leaving you will find out that your stay has been much too short.
