The complex, characterized by its traditional design featuring canavas (wine storage areas) in the lower levels and living quarters above, reflects the island's rich cultural heritage. The construction of such houses during that time demanded considerable labor and utilized local materials such as stones and volcano stones known as kissira.
Despite its traditional roots, Villa Ignia boasts modern conveniences including outdoor furniture, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a tea and coffee maker, as well as a private bathroom complete with a shower and hairdryer.
