Dokoly Estate is set in the countryside just above the historical town of Nafplion, 4.5 kilometers from the sea and only 1.5 hours away from the airports of Athens and Kalamata. It is close to Epidaurus, Mycenae, Tiryns and the sites of many of the 12 feats of Hercules. Athens, Sparta and Olympia can be visited on day trips.
The property spans 2.4 acres with more than 400 organic fruit and olive trees, extensive vegetable and herb patches, and several flower beds. We are delighted to share the produce with our guests.
A full-time care taker and a cleaner are on call at all times.
The Main House consists of a sitting area, a dining table for 12 and a connecting kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, each with a rain shower. The house is heated and air conditioned and there is a well-functioning fireplace. There are 3 patios and a covered pergola, each to catch the shade or sun of a different time of the day. There is a traditional bread/ pizza oven under the pergola.
The pool area is set on an elevation behind the house, specifically placed there both to offer spectacular views and to not interrupt the sea of olive trees that spread in front of the main house.
We designed the pool area to enjoy living outdoors the entire day and evening. There is a 90 square metre pergola with a full kitchen (with 2 dishwashers for parties) a sitting room and a dining area for 12 people. On the terrace around the pool, we have given seated dinners for more than 50 people. There is a big built-in barbecue on the terrace.The pool itself is large, 13.5 x 7.5 meters. The feel of the water is uniquely soft, thanks to its cleaning with oxygen rather than chlorine.
There is a fourth bedroom with its own bathroom and terrace below the pool area. It is connecting to the main house with a path through the tree orchard.
The grounds have a covered area for parking two cars and a small football field, in which our children loved practicing in when they were small. There is also a table-tennis on the terrace below the pool.
There are all sorts of fruit trees to pick from depending of the season, ranging from various citrus fruit, to peaches, apricots, pomegranates, figs and pears. We are also finally successful with our pistachios, even though our area does not grow them.Our vegetable garden produces lettuce, tomatoes and various vegetables and fruit, including strawberries.
There is internet throughout the property as well as an alarm system.
